Abstract

|
|
Counterflow centrifugal elutriation(CCE) has been proposed as a method for separating heterogeneous cell populations on the basis of different sedimentation characteristics without impairment of cell function or yield. The practical advantages of CCE include 1) the large numbers of cells that can be processed in a single run, 2) high efficiency of recovery and viability, 3) the rapidity, and 4) the reproducibility. Recently elutriation technique has been adapted for clinical practice such as T lymphocyte depletion in allogeneic bone marrow transplantation as well as a variety of researches including hematopoietic stem cell studies.
